Income Inequality and Mortality: A Norwegian Perspective*

While Norway has experienced income growth accompanied by a large decline in mortality during the past several decades, little is known about distribution of these improvements longevity across distribution. Using municipality-level and data, we show that stark gradient infant municipalities 1950s mostly closed late 1960s. However, for older age categories persisted until 2010 only flattened thereafter. Further, gap between rich poor Norwegian families based on individual-level data decades longer than finally early 21st century.
